Law Enforcement Protocol

Last updated: 2 September 2026

This page explains how authorised law-enforcement agencies may submit requests concerning VYBE UK accounts and records. VYBE assesses requests under applicable law and our obligations to protect member privacy and safety.

1. Submitting a request

Law-enforcement requests should be sent from an official government or law-enforcement email address to admin@vybeuk.co.uk with the subject “Law Enforcement Request”.

2. Information required

Please identify the requesting agency and officer, provide official contact details, describe the legal authority for the request, identify the account or records sought as precisely as possible, specify the relevant date range, and include the applicable warrant, court order, statutory notice or other legal process where required.

3. Verification and scope

VYBE may verify the authenticity and legal validity of a request before disclosure. Requests should be specific and proportionate. We may seek clarification or object to requests that are invalid, overbroad, technically impracticable, or inconsistent with applicable law.

4. Emergency requests

If there is an emergency involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, clearly mark the subject “EMERGENCY — LAW ENFORCEMENT” and explain the nature of the emergency, why the requested information is necessary, and the specific information sought. Emergency requests are evaluated case by case and do not guarantee disclosure.

5. Preservation requests

Where permitted by applicable law, an authorised agency may request preservation of identified account records while appropriate legal process is obtained. The request should clearly identify the account and preservation period sought.

6. Child safety and exploitation

VYBE prohibits minors from using the service and prohibits child sexual abuse material, sexual exploitation and trafficking. Where required or permitted by law, VYBE may preserve information and make reports to appropriate authorities concerning suspected child exploitation or serious threats to safety.

7. Member notice

VYBE may notify affected members about requests for their information unless prohibited by law, a valid non-disclosure requirement applies, or notice would create a material safety or investigative risk.

8. Data availability

VYBE can only provide records that it has and is legally permitted or required to disclose. Retention and availability vary according to the type of information and applicable legal obligations.

9. Non-law-enforcement enquiries

This process is for authorised government and law-enforcement requests. Members should use VYBE's report/block tools or contact admin@vybeuk.co.uk for ordinary safety, account or policy concerns.
